How aggressive should Israel be in response to Gaza?
Restraint against evil invites more evil
Hundreds killed. Please vote on Israel. Share your opinion too.
I put a poll up today to gather people’s opinion on how Israel should respond to the actions of Hamas out of Gaza. Last I saw, about 800 Israelis have been killed in the attacks and nearly 3000 have been injured. This included some Americans as well. And there are people from other countries who have been killed and wounded including one report of 10 workers from Thailand killed.

Over the weekend, I participated as a guest speaker in a few X Spaces discussing the situation in Israel. I also listened in to others. Much of what I heard in the largest active space was appalling. Rants against Israel and support of the murder and maiming of Israeli citizens were common. I found it quite disturbing. That’s unacceptable when considering what happened in this attack. It went far beyond a general dispute over land. It was a vicious incursion in Israeli territory.
A general debate about the pros and cons of the historical situation in Israel is fair and can be useful. Israel has until this weekend been struggling with a challenging debate itself over judiciary reform. But they have been doing just that: debating. Demonstrations have been peaceful. The discussions are heated. But that’s what happens from time to time in a free society. Hamas and the political leaders in Gaza are not of that sort.
The tragedy of these attacks has been cruel as the result of a sinister Shabbat raid on citizens many of whom were killed and kidnapped.

The attack on Israel looks to be a highly-coordinated event meant to devastating and destroy the nation, disrupt international diplomacy, distract us from other serious concerns (Joe Biden’s treachery for instance), the imminent danger of a nuclear Iran, North Korea, China’s invasion of Taiwan (coming soon?), oil, and so much more.
